Have your Say! Local Nature Recovery
The Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) is here to help us all do better at protecting and improving the Island’s ecological health, upon which we all ultimately depend. The successful implementation of the LNRS is all about us working together to protect habitats and species, improve the environmental quality of our towns, coast and countryside, and make space for the natural world. The island’s LNRS strategy is open for public consultation until 17 Feb so please don’t miss your opportunity to have your say by heading to the Island Nature website where you’ll find access to all LNRS resources, along with the questionnaire to provide your feedback: https://www.islandnature.org .There are video links to help you navigate the LNRS and learn or explore more about species, habitats and Islands biodiversity.

Help Grow Gurnard over March
Grow Gurnard is a small group of Gurnard residents who have an ambition to create a community farm in Gurnard and in doing so, improve the local community whilst having a positive impact on the planet. The group is excited to share that their second session of planting will take place tentatively on the weekends of March 1st/2nd and March 8th/9th. The group invites volunteers to come out and help plant 705 hedges donated by the woodland trust. The stock consists of wild harvest and wildlife species. They will also be bulking up our boarder planting with fruit and nut trees donated as gifts from our supportive community. Please stay connected to the group’s social media pages @Growgurnard for more information and updates.

Engaging Island Youth
We are working hard to engage island youth in helping us vision and achieve a net zero, nature positive, thriving Isle of Wight. We have been engaging with the Island’s Youth Trust and have set up a small working group of young people on the topic. We also have up a TFMZ Instagram page, please help us spread the word 🙂
